Sue Bates has fond memories of the Swedish Rye bread that her Grandma Ester hand kneaded and baked in her Superior, Wis. home. So when an opportunity came along around seven years ago to carry on that tradition on a much larger scale, Sue could not turn it down.
In 2005, Sue and Scott Bates purchased Great Harvest Bread Co. at 1523 South University Drive in Fargo. The rest has been a great deal of fun, learning and community support. She could not imagine doing anything else.
"I grew up in a family where our hands were always busy, either being in the kitchen or handcrafting something. Now I get the joy of doing both everyday." Sue Bates
