Passion for Bread | Sue Bates has fond memories of the Swedish Rye bread her Grandma Ester hand-kneaded and baked in her Superior, Wis., home. So three years ago when an opportunity came along to carry on that tradition, but on a much larger scale, Sue could not turn it down. In 2005, Sue and Scott Bates purchased Great Harvest Bread Co. at 1523 South University Drive in Fargo. The rest has been a great deal of fun, learning and community support. She could not imagine doing anything else. "I grew up in a family where our hands were always busy, either being in the kitchen or handcrafting something. Now I get the joy of doing both everyday." Sue Bates Great Harvest Bread of Fargo has been in the business of creating fresh, whole grain breads for 22 years. We have been at the same location, 1523 University Drive South, since the very first day we opened our doors. We know and understand the needs of the community and our customs. That is why we strive to always offer the most nutrious and unique breads.
